Why “seeded” feels right

It makes perfect metaphorical sense—something planted deep, growing roots. That’s exactly why the eggcorn is so common and so hard to shake.

The actual phrase is older and more literal: seated in the sense of set in place, the way a bolt is seated or a rider is seated deep in the saddle. It describes position, not planting.

You will never once be misunderstood using the wrong one. You’ll just be wrong.
